Fantastic Presidential News..!
DG - Sue Rowell

Dear Team

WOW!  Have I got great news!!!  At the Rotary Zone 7a & 8 Institute in New Zealand last week, Rotary International Director, John Lawrence informed me that our world President DK Lee is finalizing his plans to come to Perth in the third week of May 2009 to present the Presidential Citations to our Clubs….all Clubs having taken a pledge to Make Dreams Real for those 30,000 children under the age of 5 who die daily from preventable causes.

That is wonderful news isn’t it?  So now we really need to get ready:  Clubs which have not quite finished their requirements for the Presidential Citation need to make sure they have initiated one new project to bring down that child morality rate, one project in each area of service and 10% net new members (at the least, 1 new member in each Club).  At last count this week we have 997 members in  District 9450 with another 20-30 in the pipeline with two new Clubs getting ready to charter, one new Rotaract Club and one new Interact Club….plus all the new opportunities for service to children which we have added as well as the tried and true well known projects and programmes.

Assistant Governors will be available to work with Clubs and AG Liz Westoby will make special contact to help with the Presidential Citation.  Those of you who are ready could go ahead and complete the form and send it in.

DG.N. Ian Hutton and P.DG. Doug Pascoe have taken on the task of organizing the event for President DK.  We will invite the other two districts, arrange visits for President DK. with local dignitaries, organize some fun things and generally make the event memorable for President DK and  his wife Young and all of our District 9450 Presidents and Rotarians.

Any ideas that you have to contribute to planning the event will be welcome by DG.N. Ian and P.DG. Doug.  If I can do anything to help, don’t hesitate to let me know.

This is truly an opportunity to show Rotarians’ achievements in Western Australia.  I seek your continued support and involvement in completing the President Citation pledges and in making the World Presidential Tour to our state unforgettable.

Yours in Rotary Service

Sue
